What does CROSS North America do to my coilovers when we rebuild? Basically, it is replacing moving parts and parts that will wear under heavy use. When we receive your dampers, our highly skilled technicians will open up the coilover, replace the piston if needed, replace the main bearing, apply a new seal, put in a new o-ring, put in new oil, and give it a gas charge. At the same time, our technicians will check to see if there are any other parts that will be needed to replaced. When you get your damper back, it will be brand new internally and it will like the first day you received them.
When I get my Return Authorization Number and the 'go-ahead' to send in the coilovers, what parts should I send? When sending in your coilovers that have to go in for a rebuild, it is important that you send in only the dampers. Meaning you must remove the uppermount, springs, spring seats, seat locks, and lower bracket before sending the dampers in. This will speed up the rebuild turn-around time and cut down costs on the price. Additionally, when removing your coilover uppermount, please use an impact gun to remove the top nut. Not using an impact wrench and instead using a handtool will cause the shaft to spin and eventually come out. If you would like to send in your coilovers with everything still attatched to it, you may do so for an additional fee of $70.00. This will also insure proper set up and spring pre-load. Please clean the coilovers to the best of your ability. The cleaner the coilover will be easier for our technicians to service your coilovers. Cleaning services are available for an additional charge.
How long does it usually take for a rebuild? The time that it takes for a rebuild does depend when it comes in but generally takes between 1-2 weeks (minus the shipping transit times). If your vehicle is needed for an event and the coilovers are nessesary, please give enough time (4-5 weeks in advanced) to send in your coilovers. We will do our best to get you the coilovers in time.
When I send my coilovers in for rebuild, can I have it custom valved as well? The answer is Yes! This will be the perfect opportunity for you to get your coilovers custom vavled by our highly skilled technicians. An additional cost of $100.00 per damper is applied when each corner is being rebuilt. Please contact us directly when requesting a custom valved set up.
