4/12/2008  Formula Drift: Long Beach Race Day

LONG BEACH, CA - After two days of successful practice and testing sessions, race day had come and the JIC Magic/Hankook Tire Porsche was prepped and ready for battle.  With a fresh set of Hankook Ventus RS-2 Tires, the Porsche began the practice session with powerful runs, hitting each clipping point with pinpoint accuracy, while maintaining a deep angle with immense speed.   Though during one of the early practice runs, the Porsche, with its' newly redesigned engine, pushing far more horsepower than before, broke the transmission and weakened the axels, just a few hours before the qualifying runs for the Top 16 Battle.  Determined to get back in the race, JIC Magic's Professional Pit crew handled the situation with speed.  With the pressure on, the JIC Magic Pit Crew removed and replaced the broken transmission with a new transmission in a under a mere 2 hours.  The Team finished the job with just one qualifying run left in the day, and with that the Porsche sped off to the starting grid waiting for the signal to go.

The flag drops, and the Porsche takes off, entering the first corner at a blistering 65 Miles per Hour, the Highest Entry speed of any car at the Long Beach event.  Sliding around the first corner, Tyler maneuvers the GT2 towards the first clipping point, flying by it with just a mere 2 inches of clearance from the wall, hitting the clipping point closer than most have hit all day, impressing the crowds and the judges.  Tires smoking, engine roaring, the Porsche continues at high speed towards the second clipping point.  Then nearing the final corner and the checkered flag, the axel, weakened by the first transmission blow, snaps under the pressure of the new higher horsepower engine causing a spin.  The Porsche qualified in the Top 32 in Formula Drift, so an overall successful event for the JIC Magic/Hankook Tire Porsche.
